EM is a ground-up reconstruction of secure communication. Every layer answers a different question: what runs, what is encrypted, what is exposed, and who controls the result.

Hardened GrapheneOS hardware

EM starts on hardened GrapheneOS hardware. The operating environment is part of the product, not a recommendation left to the user.

Remote attestation

GrapheneOS Auditor remote attestation provides a mechanism to verify the device state and keep trust anchored to something observable.

Decentralised Matrix E2EE

The communications layer is built on Matrix with end-to-end encryption using the Olm and Megolm protocols.

Closed-loop control

Sovereign infrastructure, zero-knowledge controls, and a closed operating model keep the communication perimeter deliberate.

Encryption / in transit and at rest

Private by protocol.

EM uses decentralised Matrix E2EE. Olm protects direct conversations; Megolm handles encrypted group communication. The important detail is the boundary: the system is designed so message content remains inaccessible outside the intended participants.
