Four layers / one system
Nothing is ornamental.
01
Hardened GrapheneOS hardware
EM starts on hardened GrapheneOS hardware. The operating environment is part of the product, not a recommendation left to the user.
02
Remote attestation
GrapheneOS Auditor remote attestation provides a mechanism to verify the device state and keep trust anchored to something observable.
03
Decentralised Matrix E2EE
The communications layer is built on Matrix with end-to-end encryption using the Olm and Megolm protocols.
04
Closed-loop control
Sovereign infrastructure, zero-knowledge controls, and a closed operating model keep the communication perimeter deliberate.
Encryption / in transit and at rest
Private by protocol.
EM uses decentralised Matrix E2EE. Olm protects direct conversations; Megolm handles encrypted group communication. The important detail is the boundary: the system is designed so message content remains inaccessible outside the intended participants.
Olm
One-to-one encryption protocol.
Megolm
Group communication encryption protocol.
Operational Infrastructure
Built to stay standing.
Anguilla / three servers
Anguilla-based hosting across a 3-server architecture, with Starlink backup for continuity.
Device hardening
The device is hardened as part of the service, with GrapheneOS forming the trusted starting point.
No email / no phone numbers
EM removes conventional identity dependencies from the operating model.
